Youtube Spotlight: “It Gets Better” by Google

by on Oct, 26 2010

I saw this video today posted on my friend’s blog and decided that it would be a much better alternative to trying to figure out my statistics problem set. The “It Gets Better Project” is a collaboration among individuals and companies in the campaign against homophobia.

Despite it being  7 minutes and 36 seconds long, which is pretty long for youtube standards, the video was definitely worth watching. The video contains no auto-tuned remixing, and there aren’t any adorable baby animals, but it still touched me in a way that just might surpass even the sneezing panda.

But on a serious note, I hope I will never have to show this video to the ones I care about. I hope no one ever has to feel that life is not worth living because he or she is homosexual, but unfortunately recent events have already proven that many do feel this way.

So, to all who reads this, whether you are gay or straight or bisexual or simply confused, heed the words of one of my favorite human beings of all time, the nameless sitter who is at Sather Gate every day holding his home made sign that reads: “you’re perfect.” He means you!
