To all the great teachers in the world

Thanksforteaching.us is one of the sweetest websites, ever. My friend BC recently shared this with me, and it exemplifies what positive ideas are coming out of Web 2.0. The creators of Thanksforteaching.us include Berkeley alums Kevin Huynh, Sophia Richter, Elena Sanina, John Bister, Berkeley student Nathan Kim, and  UCLA grad Yoko Ohama. According to the site, it aims to recognize “amazing educators have challenged us to be better thinkers, dared us to change career paths in a single lecture, and inspired us to believe that, with a little hard work, a better future is possible.” Props to that. Teachers play such an incredible role in our educations, and what a great way to show them how much they have influenced us!

Using a simple Givesmehope-esque form, you can submit a shout-out to your favorite teacher thanking him/her and sharing what s/he inspired you to do. The site has been live for about a week now, but there are only twenty-some days left to submit posts because the site is only a 30-day campaign. A cool feature of the site is that if you recognize a teacher, there’s a direct link to e-mail them the post. I have a feeling people don’t e-mail their posts to their teachers after writing, so the e-mail link is another way for others to share the kind thoughts with the teachers mentioned.

Give a shout-out to your favorite teacher today, and if you’re up for a challenge, make some more to your favorite teachers from elementary school, middle school, high school, and college!
