There have been two viral news stories concerning airplanes this past week: the lift on the FAA ban on use of electronic devices during takeoff and taxi and Virgin America’s new in-flight safety video.

We are all familiar with the boring (and sometimes creepy) airplane safety video routine, but this video puts a literal routine in your flight path. This five-minute musical spectacular is the perfect way to keep kids’ and adults’ attention drawn to in-flight safety (and adds to the list of reasons why Virgin America is the cool kid on the terminal).

Racking your mind to place the familiar faces in this video? Well, the dance was co-choreographed by Jamal Sims (choreographer of the Step Up movies) and Christopher Scott (choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance). Scott definitely used his connections to get some former So You Think You Can Dance alumni, like Phillip Chbeeb and Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer, to play pop-locking pilot’s assistants.

But the front and center singer and lyricist, Todrick Hall, has not only earned his fame as an American Idol alumnus, but has drawn the attention of production companies with his talent to produce musical parodies and flashmobs. His YouTube channel has a modest 541,000 subscribers, but his most popular videos boast close to 10 million views.

From his infamous Beyoncé-inspired Target flashmob to his ratchet interpretation of Mean Girls, Todrick’s videos have been causing a buzz all over the web since 2010.

And finally, Todrick was recruited by YouTube channel MyISH for a new flash mob series. The debut episode is a surprise for songstress Ariana Grande in celebration of her #1 debut album, Yours Truly.
