When it comes to Thanksgiving break, there are those who can’t wait to leave campus and return to their closely-located home…. and those who live hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away who will be stuck at campus over a family holiday. Whether you’re excited to finally go home, or bummed out to be spending Thanksgiving away from your family and friends, fear not. Because you, my friend, are not the only one.

First, understand that Thanksgiving break is not just one day, but four days including the weekend, meaning that you will have plenty of time to do the things you dreamed of doing but were always too busy to do. Still lost? We’ve got some ideas:

1. Catch up on sleep.

We all know that the concept of sleep in college seems to be nonexistent. So take advantage of this free times because chances are, you don’t get many opportunities were dorms and campus are quiet.

2. Binge, binge watch Netflix.

Go buy your favorite snacks and start a new TV Series or catch up on any other TV Shows.

3. Exercise

Free time? Well, now you have no excuses to not exercise. You might be surprised at how good you would feel after a good workout.

4. Clean

Although you might be putting this off, you do finally have the time to clean, and I mean really clean. This includes your room, closet, bathroom, and that pile of laundry that looks like a monster in the dark.

5. Make some friends

You can’t be the only one stuck on Campus for Thanksgiving break. Now’s the time to make some new friends who will most likely be willing to spend time with new friends than by themselves during break.

Second, the rules don’t state that to celebrate Thanksgiving, you must have a home cooked meal. In fact, there are more restaurants than you’d expect open in the area for Thanksgiving dinner. Make a reservation for you and a couple of friends stranded in Berkeley:

1. Bay Grille & Lounge

Location: 200 Marina Blvd. Berkeley, CA 94710

2. FIVE

Location: 2086 Allston Way Berkeley, CA 94710

3. Spenger’s Fresh Fish Grotto

4. ZUT!

Location: 1820 4th St, Berkeley, CA 94710

5. HS Lordship

Location: 199 Seawall Drive Berkeley, CA 94710

If you’re willing to go to San Francisco:

1. Alioto’s

Location:#8 Fisherman’s Wharf San Francisco, CA 94113

2.1300 on Filmore

Location: 1300 Filmore Street San Francisco, CA 94115

3. 501 Zingari

Location: 501 Post St, San Francisco, CA 94102

4. ANZU

Location: 222 Mason Street San Francisco, CA 94102

5. Bask

If you’re still trying to fill your free time, you should never underestimate the possibilities at Berkeley during Thanksgiving Break:

1. Take a morning yoga class on Thanksgiving Day

2. Thanksgiving 5k in San Francisco

3. Attend or volunteer at Free Community Thanksgiving
