Fashion and Student Trends (FAST) will be hosting its Spring 2014 fashion show on May 3. FAST is a student organization that works to cultivate a fashion community at Cal by producing a fashion show each semester featuring only student designs and student models.
The theme for this semester’s show is “Continuum,” which has been interpreted by the show’s designers and the clothing designers in multiple ways.
“The structure of the show works as a continuum itself. Each look in a collection varies slightly with the next, but the difference from the first look to the final look of a collection is drastic,” says one of FAST’s presidents, Ming Cong. “Designers have interpreted the theme as a structural continuum, color continuum, or chronological continuum.”
This semester the event will be held at the Joseph Wood Krutch Theatre in Clark Kerr and will feature 24 designers and 80 models presenting a wide array of original clothing collections inspired by everything from Marvel’s The Avengers to Alice in Wonderland.
“Each collection is highly conceptual and a unique creation of that designer’s ideas,” says Cong.
The show begins at 7pm (doors open at 6:30). Tickets can be purchased for the pre-sale price of $8 on Sproul beginning April 28th, and are $10 at the door. All tickets can also be used for entry to the after party. (And who doesn’t love an after party?) Plus a portion of the proceeds of all ticket sales will be donated to Loved Twice, a non-profit organization that collects gently used baby clothing and redistributes it to hospitals, shelters, and clinics for disadvantaged newborns.
