“Fandemonium” and a New RHCP Album

Fellow Red Hot Chili Peppers fans and rock-enthusiasts have a reason to get crazy, jump around, and, if preference dictates, take off their shirts like the rest of the band members, because bassist Flea recently told Rolling Stone that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are working on a new album.

Their tenth album I’m With You, released in 2011, was a new experience for the band. In his interview with Rolling Stone, Flea described it as a “feeling-out process,” especially with the addition of RHCP’s new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Change has always been a defining aspect throughout RHCP’s evolving music and style, so when guitarist John Frusciante officially left the band in 2009, RHCP had another opportunity to transition and grow.

However, they did not have to look far for a replacement guitarist; Klinghoffer was already affiliated with the band through his personal friendship with Frusciante, as well as through touring with RHCP in 2007 at the end of their Stadium Arcadium tour. Front-man Anthony Kedis, in an interview with MTV, describes Klinghoffer as being “the only choice” for the job, and his addition has added a new dimension to RHCP’s sound, one which ultimately resulted in I’m With You.

High off success from their tenth album, especially from funky tracks such as “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers are going strong. In the same Rolling Stone interview, Flea says that the band has been “writing and rehearsing, rolling up (their) sleeves, getting in the studio, and doing it.” As a result, they have developed an inventory of over 30 new songs.

Teasing the content of these new songs, Fleas reveals in his interview that the tracks are, “super danceable, funky sh*t and some real introspective, pretty stuff. It feels good man, and it’s fun to play it.” The band’s passion is evident, and their direction is clearly rooted in their signature style, while also venturing into new territory.

However, that’s not all from the celebrated punk-rock band. They’re set to release their first book, “Fandemonium: Red Hot Chili Peppers,” in mid-November.

Unlike “Scar Tissue,” front-man and lead singer Anthony Keidis’ autobiography—which is also a highly recommended and riveting read—”Fandemonium” is an unprecedented fan appreciation book, paying tribute where tribute is due.

The book contains a variety of content, including a diverse collection of photos, extensive concert coverage, interviews with the band and devoted fans, and special words from the band directed to its fans. “Fandemonium” captures the compelling synergy between the Red Hot Chili Peppers and their fans, making for an inspirational and ground-breaking, highly anticipated read.
