Dr. Steve Brule: You’ve Never Seen Anything like This Before

Though I love to write, I don’t really have too many words to describe Dr. Steve Brule. Here are the logistics – he’s a character, played by John C. Reilly, on Check It Out!, a television show, that spun off from the popular Tim and Eric Awesome Show: Great Job!

Judging from John C. Reilly’s typical role, he’s a comedic character. However, the style of comedy in this show is unlike anything you’ve ever seen (assuming you haven’t seen Tim and Eric). The premise is as follows: it’s 4:30 AM, you’re for whatever reason tuned into your local public access channel that no one watches, and they seem to have hired a completely incompetent man to do a show where he delves into various topics by ‘checking them out’. Whether they hired him out of pity or incompetence, no one knows. What follows is inevitable hilarity due to a perfectly-timed John C. Reilly simultaneously embarrassing himself and his guests.

Disclaimer: this show is not for everyone. I showed it to my dad and he laughed approximately zero times. Personally, this show is right up my alley of Borat-meets-Will Ferrell-meets-Reddit style humor. And, at roughly eleven minutes per episode, it couldn’t hurt to take a look, as Dr. Steve Brule himself says, for your health.
