With a 3000+ song discography and less than 7 years in the game, local weirdo nerd rapper Lil B “The Based God” is no fan of refinement or quality control. With such an incredible output, it seems that he simply hurls his raps at a wall and hopes some of them stick. Actually, a needle in a haystack analogy would probably work better; it’s up to us, the fans, to separate the gems from the forgettables. In his earlier years, when his projects were leaner and more focused, this was easier to do. His overall quality hasn’t dropped in recent times, his quantity has just been raised. And, if you had finally finished picking out your select favorites from Lil B’s existing discography, you’ve got some more work to do, because he just dropped a 101-song mixtape called (for some reason) ’05 Fuck ‘Em.
Yes, he tried out for the Golden State Warriors….
Whether Lil B’s usage of ’05 is a reference to a year (or maybe the number that he wanted on his jersey were he to have made the Warriors) we cannot know for sure, but what I do know is how long-awaited this mixtape was. He’s been tweeting that it will drop “any day now” since about late-August. And, as a dedicated fan, I couldn’t even think about finals when Lil B announced in early December that he heard from “The Based God” (himself) that it was going to drop within the next week. Of course, it didn’t — it was delayed another 5 or 6 days — but, surely enough, Christmas came early because he delivered it at about 4 PM PST on the 24th. I’ll be honest, between my job and getting to see all of my high school friends, I’m only about 25 tracks in, but there are a few gems that I really like; he reps Berkeley heavily in a few. However, finding them is an integral part of the experience.

if Lil Bs discography is a chore to pick through then you have some growing to do yourself esp. before you call yourself writing an article as if you know the artist but dont evn listen to the artist and clearly dont understand where he’s coming from. #fakinbasd
Until they offer a Lil B major at UC Berkeley (and I truly hope they do!), I don’t think I’m going to have time to listen to 101 songs in one sitting when I have a degree to pursue, articles to write, and a job to do. I actually do know Lil B personally; we text each other occasionally and he filmed a music video at a friend’s house. He was very supportive of this article, for the record. I don’t want to speak for the man, but I think that even he would understand that — as a fervent fan of his — I can’t listen to the glory that is ’05 Fuck ‘Em in one sitting.
