FollowLooking to get out of Berkeley this year for Halloween? No fear, literally. Here’s a compiled list of events to try and check out if you have a car, a Bart ticket and some time to kill between midterms.
Friday, October 25: Spookfest
Looking for something if you’re under 21? Spookfest 2013 is on Friday, October 25 at the Oracle Arena and features a line-up including Sebastian Ingrosso, Empire of the Sun, ATRAK, NERVO, Mord Fustang, Aaron Axelsen, Saint John, and Miles the DJ. It’s going to be a huge show, so don’t miss out on this one!

Saturday, October 26: Cal Academy of Sciences Supernatural Halloween
Looking for something a little more low key for a quieter Halloween? Look no further than the California Academy of Sciences Supernatural Halloween 2013. Disclaimer: this is a family event so do expect a lot of children; however, if you have nothing else to do from 5-9pm on October 26 why not check it out? There are magic shows, musical performances, planetarium shows, and a giant pumpkin carving. There is no better place to look for some good, clean fun to bring you back to your childhood.

Saturday, October 26: The Ghost Ship 2013
The Ghost Ship 2013 is on Pier 70 in San Francisco and just a Bart trip away. Starting at 9pm, the event boasts “unparalleled original art installations built from scratch from recyclable materials.” The artists come up with innovative and surreal designs; work from previous years includes a Victorian-era Ghost ship. The art will be featured against the beats of the top DJ crews, all of whom are Bay Area locals. One catch: you have to be 21+, so keep that in mind when making plans.

Saturday, October 26: Halloween International Ball
Also on October 26 from 9pm-2am is the so-called “best Halloween party in SF” presented by Aykut events at the Fairmont hotel in San Francisco. The event boasts “world renowned DJs performances” by Trevor Simpson, KBLO, and TATI. They also have a costume contest with prizes for the night. However, you also have to be 21+ to attend.

Thursday, October 31: FREAKS & BEATS
Another 21+ event next week is the FREAKS & BEATS Costume Party and Halloween Celebration on October 31st. Early Bird Presale is only $10.00, so catch the cheap fare while you can. This event features DJ D-Sharp, Apollo, Sake One, Mr. E, and Ruby Red.

All of October: Corn Maze
Lastly, if you have a car, you should definitely check this corn maze out! It comes in at 53 acres and has a crazy difficult design that will keep your head spinning. This corn maze holds the Guinness world record and creators claim: “So many records don’t even make it into the official Guinness book, (they usually pick 4,000 out of 40,000) so we’re very proud to continue to have the designation and to open the book and find our maze information inside.” It’s open from 9am to 8pm daily until the beginning of November. Admittedly, it is a little bit of a trek (an hour drive away) as it’s all the way in Dixon, but it looks like an adventure that would be worth the drive, definitely deserving of a spot on the Halloween bucket list.
