ASUB SUPERB presents: Cosmonauts w/ French Cassettes, concert

Transgender Day of Remembrance Open Mic, community

Part of a series of events during Transgender Awareness Week at Cal, this open mic night will provide “a space for trans*-identifying, genderqueer-identifying, and non-binary-identifying folks to commemorate those who have lost their lives due to violence.”

Big Game Bonfire Rally, community

The UC Berkeley Rally Committee puts on their annual Big Game torching at the Greek Theatre this Friday, to prepare for Saturday’s Cal-Stanford face-off; assuming the weather cooperates (it didn’t last year), Cal will see four stories of wooden crates go up in flames after performances by the California Golden Overtones, the UC Men’s Octet, the Cal Dance Team, and the Cal Cheer Team, among others. Oski and Dean Joseph Greenwell will be in attendance as well. GO BEARS!

Dubbed a “a surreal marriage of abstract storytelling, pitch-black comedy, and vaudeville,” that is “moving, cruel, witty, and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny,” “The Old Woman” is a Robert Wilson production that unites actor Willem Dafoe with dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov in an absurdist sketch comedy about a struggling writer. Featuring artists as acclaimed as these and following a solid European run, the show will be a dark delight, no doubt!

November Harvest Day, community

Now open to the public, Gill Tract is an urban agriculture project located a 20-minute bus ride north of campus. If you’re a bike-rider, a bike party will be leaving the Student Organic Gardening Association plot at Walnut and Virginia around 9:30am that morning. Join activists and neighbours for a day of hands-on learning. Demonstrations about food security and justice will take place as well.
