The Berkeley Food Institute, Cal Dining, Student Environmental Resource Center, and the UHS Tang Center collaborate to bring local vendors and student groups to campus to “celebrate local, healthy, and sustainable food.” This Friday marks the inaugural farmer’s market to take place on Food Day at UC Berkeley! Grab some healthy, sustainable treats and learn more about local and global food issues!

12 Angry Men, theatre

Based on the 1957 film starring Henry Fonda, “12 Angry Men,” this BareStage production is one not to miss. 12 angry men (and women for gender parity in this version) arguing about a court case for hours on end? Sounds like a drag, but if you’ve seen the film, you’ll know it’s actually a blast—besides the hilarity and suspense, this play sheds light on larger ethical issues. Talk about controversy.

The only stateside performance this year by the German dance company, this weekend’s appearance by Sasha Waltz & Guests will feature her “most intimate and lyrical work,” “Impromptus.” The interpretative, sensitive dance is set to music by Schubert, performed live by pianist Cristina Marton and mezzo-soprano Ruth Sandhoff. We love feeling worldly after class, and Cal Performances is the best gateway on campus to do so!

Humans vs. Zombies, live action role-playing

The gnomes and wizards of ASUC SUPERB bring us another irresponsible way to spend our Sunday night—“GET READY!!! Just in time for Halloween, Humans vs. Zombies is coming to campus! This fun game pits teams of humans against teams of ‘zombies’ in a cross between tag, scavenger hunt, and assassins.” We hear there’ll be prizes and snacks at this one too, but we’re going for the zombie makeup and free Halloween costume.
