A Little Midterm Love
by Avery Barnes on Feb, 25 2012With midterm season in full swing, it seems like everywhere I go I hear someone talking about how stressed they are. From papers, to problem sets, labs, to exams, you can find anxiety lurking throughout Berkeley. In the midst of late night studying, cramming, and sleep deprived days it’s easy to fall into a midterm slump. We all dread these papers and exams that weigh so heavily into our grades. While there is no way to avoid what seems to be the never ending rounds of midterms until May, a small gesture can brighten someone’s midterm crammed day.
Sometimes we all need a little cliché to know everything is going to be ok.
Let someone know they are on your mind or thank a friend for helping you prepare for an exam.
Bake or purchase some study snacks and leave them in your floor’s lounge.
A simple text can go a long way.
If someone seems to be in a rush let them go in front of you in line.
Bring your roommate some coffee, a late night snack to keep them amped.
A cute and creative way to say hey, you’re guaranteed to bring a smile to their face.
Swipe in the person behind you at the dinning commons.
Offer to help someone study.
Leave someone an encouraging note or good luck charm.
If you know someone has a lot going on, pick up their groceries for them.
Listen to your friend talk (or rant) about their stressful day.
Pick up an extra donut for the person who will be sitting next to you in your 8 a.m. lecture.
