Unsubscribe Me! (A Calmail Tip)
by Sarah Tang on Sep, 24 2012I have been getting a lot of e-mails from President Obama, some from Michelle, and even one from Beyonce (subject: “I don’t usually e-mail you…”). Ever since I visited the virtual suggestion box of the White House and foolishly left my Berkeley e-mail address, my Calmail inbox has been routinely flooded by pre-election messages. At first it amused me to have Obama address me as “Dear friend,” but this weekend I decided I really needed to limit my e-mail subscriptions. As entertaining as some of my spam is, it’s easy to overlook the important e-mails when they’re sandwiched between CampusCred pole dancing discounts and announcements from clubs I never ended up joining.
For those like me who ignore or delete e-mails rather than unsubscribe because of the hassle, there is no hassle. There’s always an unsubscribe link at the bottom of e-mails from businesses. There is also a very quick way to unsubscribe to Berkeley mailing lists on Calmail. On the Calmail homepage there is a “Quick Links” box on the left that I’ve never looked at, and one of the links is called “Manage Your Mailing List.” If you click on it you will find the many mailing lists you signed up for during Calapalooza. Click on the ones you want to unsubscribe and there will be an option to unsubscribe! Magical.
On an unrelated note, if you’ve ever wanted to change your Calnet password, there’s a link right below the “Manage Your Mailing List” that lets you do that. So if you picked a password when you were a freshman that you find embarrassing now, you can change it!
